COVID-19 update

Coronavirus: JUCY New Zealand

26 March 2020

JUCY is dedicated to the safety and well-being of our customers, employees and community. We are closely monitoring the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Health, and guidance from our government as to how best to respond to the current Coronovirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As of 23:59 Wednesday 25 March, 2020, New Zealand entered Alert Level 4. This means that the country is essentially in lock-down, and everyone must self-isolate for a minimum of 4 weeks. Only people who are undertaking essential services and the transport of freight will be permitted to travel.

JUCY Rentals will not be taking any new bookings for customers outside of those operating as an essential service. If you need to extend, cancel or re-schedule your existing booking, please contact our reservations team

However, as we are here to support essential services when required, our branches are still operating (with limited staff resources and with zero-touch logistics where possible), for the return of vehicles and for pick-ups of campervans (essential service use only). We encourage all travellers to practice social distancing and good hygiene. Please follow the government guidelines on these here.

Our team are working tirelessly to ensure that our customers and partners continue to receive the high-level of JUCY customer care that we are renowned for – and to our team, we thank you for your resilience, patience and professionalism during this unprecedented situation.

Given the frequency of changes to the situation surrounding COVID-19, we strongly urge that you remain informed by following these sources of information:

Contacting JUCY:  Please note, we are experiencing extreme volumes of calls and emails due to the recently imposed travel restrictions. Please bear with us while we work through each of your enquiries as quickly and efficiently as possible.

JUCY recognises that our current T&Cs may require flexibility around vehicle bookings during this evolving global situation. As such, if your travel has been affected due to the government or airline restrictions please contact us;

  • If your booking was made directly with JUCY, please contact our reservations team
  • If your booking was made via a travel agent, please contact them directly

At time of publishing this page, our Director-General of Health, Ashley Bloomfield, confirmed that a self-contained campervan is an appropriate form of self-isolation. As such, if you are in a JUCY campervan, please ensure you follow all guidance from the government and Ministry of Health Organization

Campervans will need to be parked up at a stationary location and are not permitted to travel around the country. If you are planning to self-isolate at a campground or holiday park, please check with these organisations in advance that they are happy to host you in your camper. Please note, it is advised that you remain at this location for the duration of the Level 4 crisis lock-down.

Please stay up to date on self-isolation via the Ministry of Health Organization.

Above all, we understand that these are uncertain times. Please be safe, be smart, and be kind. And we look forward to continuing to help you with your epic travel adventures!
